Our History

The property has been owned by the Fox Family since 2003. David and Bronwen Fox originally purchased the family home whilst living in Sydney, with future plans to move up to the Hunter.

But, by 2008, they had converted it from a 4 bedroom home to a 7 bedroom ‘bed and breakfast’, at which time Adams Peak Retreat was born. In 2012, after many years in the bridal fashion industry in Sydney, their daughter, Karyn Fox and her family, moved to Broke. Although the move was initially temporary as a step to ‘get out of the rat race’, with one small child and falling pregnant again soon after arriving, they decided that Broke was the ideal place to bring up the family, and decided to stay. Soon enough, Karyn became involved in the family business and took over running the B&B. Karyn utilising her extensive experience in the bridal industry, marketing and customer service, along with the business acumen and wedding industry expertise of David and Bronwen, they changed the focus from accommodation only, to a unique wedding venue where the ceremony, reception and accommodation for the bridal party and family was all in one special place.

With the first official wedding in 2012, and the word getting around about this amazing property. The family realised there was a gap in the market for destination weddings in the Hunter, and the business took an exciting new direction. 2013 saw David and Bronwen step back from the business and follow other opportunities, and Karyn moved the business from predominantly accommodation to a full-blown wedding venue. With that came the name change to The Barn, Adams Peak. In 2016, with major renovations on The House, the addition of The Cabin and the inclusion of The Hay Shed as a venue offering, the decision was made to change to an all-encompassing property name…. Adams Peak Country Estate.

Due to the ongoing growth and expansion, in 2017, Michael Fox, Karyn’s brother, moved to the Hunter Valley and joined the family business. Michael’s talents in operations, sales and his flair for landscape and development was a welcome addition to the team. With Michaels help, The Water Shed, The Jetty and The Swing were all added. Then during the craziness of 2020 and 2021, there were major renovations and expansion on The Barn and The Cabin converted into The Retreat.

Since the first wedding back in 2012, the Fox family have continued to invest and progress Adams Peak Country Estate, and it shows in the stunning property you see today.
